Genesis 8:1 (NIV)
“God Has Not Forgotten You”
Say to yourself, “God has not forgotten about me.”
If God wiped out the earth because it was not doing what he intended it to do, what makes you think that if you keep doing what you want and not what God called you to that he won’t take you out too? God understands what you feel like when you experience grief, hurt, and pain. He understands because he’s been there. Sometimes you have to learn that it’s ok to be a part of the minority. You want to be with the popular people, but the popular people will do things that are disobedient to what God calls you to do. Walking with God is the majority, you may feel like it’s the minority, but if it lines up with God then it’s all good.
One way to know that God has not forgotten you is, if God has preserved you he won’t forget about you. God will disconnect you in enough time to preserve you from losing your life. God has to disconnect you from some things and some people so that he can perfect the plan that he has for your life. You wanted to stay where you were, but God pulled you out so he could pull you into what he had destined and prepared for you. Thank God he preserves you.
Another way you can know that God has not forgotten you is that God responds to active faith in the wait. Sometimes you have to learn how to stop questioning what God says and go along with it. How often do you wrestle and question what God tells you to do, versus how often you just say yes God? Stop getting caught up in the why, the how, and the I don’t feel like it, that allows you to stay in the waiting place longer than God intended. As you grow in your walk with God you will come to a place where you just say yes.
Even while you wait in active faith, sometimes you have to endure some mess. Even when the mess is around you it doesn’t mean that the mess has to taint you. God does not allow the mess that is around you to taint you. There are some people in your life that are messy, but thank God that they can be messy but you don’t allow their mess to change who you are. It does not change your character, your destiny, or the plans that God has for your life. Sometimes having to deal with other people’s mess can become bombarding, stressful, and frustrating, and ask God have you forgotten about me and left me in this mess. Only God can keep you from wanting to give up when the mess and the stench of the mess can become overwhelming. Thank God he gives people endurance to deal with your stuff. There are some people in your life that love you so much that they have endured your nonsense and your stench. They continue to love you, support you, and be there for you even when it becomes overwhelming and overbearing. They stick with you because they know that where you are now is not where you are going. There are others that if they can’t take you at your worst, then they don’t deserve you at your best.
What do you do when it seems like God has enclosed you in a space, in a season, and you don’t know what’s next. God knows how to give you what you can handle. Sometimes God teaches you when you don’t know what is happening next, you have to learn how to trust that God’s plan is always perfect. The longer you wait the more he’s preparing for you. God has the power to be able to move any and everything out of your life that hinders you from getting to your place of destiny. What is God trying to remove in your life right now that you keep opening the door back up for? You are questioning some of the moves, shifts and transitions in your life, because every move and transition does not always affirm that God is present. Some moves and transitions make you feel like God has forgotten you even the more.
Even the moments you question whether or not God is there, it’s a part of your good. It pushes you to a place where you say God if you are there then show yourself. God hasn’t forgotten you, because there are some new things that God can only accomplish through you. So he preserved you and kept you because there was a plan he had for you. Even when you don’t know the plan, continue to trust God. The creator is always better than the creation. Your mind can’t grasp everything that God wants to give you. You think you know it all, but God has held some things up, because if he gives it to you too soon, you may be fearful and be stuck where you are or become boastful and think that it was you that did it and not God.
